DESPITE the rainy season the club has enjoyed walks throughout the region, including Pett, Robertsbridge, Bewl Water, Watlington, Barcombe, Northiam, Rye, Battle, Westfield and East Dean.
In early November 30 members had a pleasing day on a trip to the Houses of Parliament, including a walk along the South Bank and a visit to the Jewel Tower.
Our thanks to Amber Rudd MP for her assistance with this. The idea of using the train for this, rather than coach travel, was deemed to be a success.
The Christmas Party was well-attended and proved to be a success at the new venue of St Matthews Church Hall.
The annual Mulled Wine and Mince Pie walk had to be rearranged at short notice due to storm damage at Rye Harbour, but was enjoyed on the Hastings to Bexhill coastal path.
On Saturday 18th January a group of 15 walkers took a guided bird-watching walk at Rock-a-Nore, followed by a social gathering at a local club.
Forthcoming walk venues are Pett Level on Sunday (February 23) (five miles).
The Spring Coach Ramble to Windsor has been confirmed for May 18, details will be in the next members’ newsletter – please book early.
Membership currently costs £7 per year and new members are always welcome. Non-drivers can be accommodated on walks by pre-arrangement.
There is also the chance to try a walk without commitment for a token fee of 50p.
