ON Tuesday, April 9, the group enjoyed an Easter extravaganza.
Members had been asked to bring some Easter decorated cup-cakes, a decorated egg, and to be ready to make Easter bonnets from material provided on the night. Everyone scrabbled busily among the heaps of yellow chicks, eggs, bunnies and flowers on the tables, and some excellent creations resulted.
We welcomed guest judge Julia Bovee, and the winners were as follows: best egg, Carol Isden and best cakes, Shirley Lawes. There were so many lovely bonnets that the judge chose two: Lyn Marshall and Chris Brook.
During the meeting, we were told about a number of forthcoming events organised by our various special interest groups, but primarily, we were asked to promote our next big fundraising event, in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.
I’m Alright Jack is for those who would like to watch the Jack-in-the-Green parade in relative luxury.
On Monday, May 5 we will be holding an exclusive ticket-only event upstairs in the Jenny Lind between 10.30am and 1pm. We are asking for a minimum donation of £8, and ticket holders will be able to access tea, coffee, cakes and lunchtime refreshments, as well as having a good view from the windows. Tickets are available from our President, Jan Kelly, 01424 436182, or from the Jenny Lind pub.
