EVER since her daughter’s heroin overdose, Thelma has been convinced of the need to warn young people about the dangers of drugs.
In September 2001, while Amy was still in a coma, she voiced her support for the Observer’s Shop the Dealer campaign, saying that she wanted to prevent other parents from having to go through what she has.
Having dedicated her life to caring for Amy, who was left with severe brain damage, Thelma spoke out regularly on the devastating effects of drugs.
She said: “I want to reiterate what I have said over the years about the Hastings campaign against drugs.
“We must get heroin out of Hastings.”
