Hastings man arrested by police for kidnap and conspiracy to commit murder

A man from Hastings has been arrested for kidnap and conspiracy to commit murder.

The 21-year-old was arrested in connection with an incident early last Friday (September 20) where a 21-year-old man suffered injuries believed to have been caused by a hammer.

The victim is believed to have been taken from an address in the Blacklands area to Brede High Woods last Thursday night (September 19).

Paramedics were called just before 2am on Friday and the victim was taken to the Conquest Hospital.

Brede High Woods, which stretches between Brede and Cripps Corner, is a popular spot for dog walkers, families and nature lovers.

Two men and a boy have already appeared before magistrates in connection with the matter and remanded in custody.

Artur Oganesyan, 22, a student of Stanley Road, and Melik Yelcin, 19, unemployed of Kenilworth Road, St Leonards, have both been charged with false imprisonment and robbery. They appeared before magistrates at Brighton on last Saturday (September 21) where they were both remanded in custody for trial at a later date.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also charged with false imprisonment and robbery and also appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, where he too was remanded.
