Expert historians meet next month for a research forum studying how the past shapes life in the town today.
The one-day conference is hosted by the University of Brighton’s Hastings campus (UBH), and runs from 1.45pm-6.30pm on October 15 on the fourth floor of the university’s rooms in Priory Square, as part of Hastings Week.
Dr Deborah Madden, of UBH, is organising the conference, which joins professionals, local historians, and academics to talk about what role the heritage of Hastings has played in local urban, economic, and social development. All are welcome to attend, but those interested should email:A.Callaghan2@brighton.ac.uk.
Dr Madden said: “The response I’ve had from local historians, but also people more generally interested in local history, has been fantastic.”
Speakers include Beatrice Rapley, of Hastings Pier Charity, and Dr Nicola Smith, of UBH.
