ORGANISERS of Beatles Day are urging fans to come together next weekend as they hope to raise thousands of pounds for charity – with a little help from their friends.
The 12th annual Fab Four-themed fundraiser takes place at the White Rock Theatre next Sunday, April 12, and the recently-revealed line-up looks stronger than ever.
From some of the best tribute bands around like The Electric Beatles and the Prefab Four through to stars of the local music scene like Liane Carroll, Blair, The 1066 Rock It Men and Pass the Cat, there is sure to be something for everyone, with Beatles hits set to be given every musical treatment going from folk to funk, heavy metal to acapella.
And returning by popular demand is Brooke Sharkey, although she will be playing an earlier than usual afternoon slot at 3.20pm before rushing off to another gig that evening.
Across the 10-and-a-half hours a total of 60 acts will be performing Beatles hits both on the White Rock’s main stage and in the theatre’s Sussex Hall, with all the proceeds again going to Macmillan Cancer Support. Organiser Pete Prescott said: “The cream of Hastings’s amazing music scene will be playing, there are great prizes in the raffle and it is a fun day for all the family.”
Tickets cost £10, or £5 for under-14s and a family ticket for two adults and three children is £25.
The day starts at noon and will finish about 10.30pm, although with the wristband people are free to come and go. There are also Beatles Day t-shirts available - they cost £10 for adults and £8 for children from the Hastings Information Centre in the town centre, and from the theatre on the day. Raffle tickets will be on sale in Priory Meadow this weekend, next weekend and at the event.
