AN aspiring model who has been entering beauty pageants for just a few months, has earned the chance to compete for the ultimate crown in a Europe-wide contest.
Holly Galletly, 20, of Little Ridge Avenue, came an impressive third in her first competition, Face of South England, in June, after a friend suggested that she enter.
Holly, who is a trained hairdresser, and has done part time modelling work for several years, has suffered from depression and lack of confidence since an attack almost three years ago, which left her with a fractured skull.
She said: “My life has been on hold for the past couple of years. The attack really, really knocked my confidence, and I don’t like going out of the house by myself.
“Beauty pageants have really helped me with my confidence.”
Following her first success, Holly came second out of around 35 finalists in the Face of London pageant, and recently was the first person to win four awards in one heat for the Face of Europe pageant, the final of which is to be held in December in Disneyland Paris. She has also been named Face of Azur, in St Leonards.
Holly has high hopes for the future, and is looking into entering the Miss England and Miss Britain contests next year. She also hopes to continue modelling, and to one day open her own chain of hairdressing salons.
