AROUND 120 of our membership of 400 gathered at St Peter’s Community Centre, Bexhill Old Town in July for our AGM, followed by a musical ensemble of instrumentalists showing the many talents of our members and culminating in tea and cakes also baked by members, a veritable feast.

After the summer break at our monthly meeting in September Dr Christopher Fifield talked about the Life and voice of Kathleen Ferrier, Britain’s finest contralto of the 20th century, captured in recordings, whose voice reverberated around the hall, most memorable.

She was also a pianist and auditioned early in her career for the voice of TIM but was turned down.

At the next monthly meeting at the St Peter’s Community Centre, Old Town, Bexhill, on Monday, October 28 at 10am for 10.30am start (coffee served from 9.30am) Sheila Innes will talk about My Life in the BBC.

Non-members are welcome to attend as a visitor where you will be able to talk to other members and find out more about your local branch. Please come and have a chat about our many activities (70 groups). Make yourself known at the desk where greeters will be in attendance.

We look forward to meeting you.
