Hastings and Rother Rainbow Alliance celebration

Speakers included mayor of Hastings Bruce Dowling and mayor of Bexhill Maurice Watson.

They thanked HRRA for their ongoing work raising the profile and highlighting the needs of local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans communities.

Co-chairman Les Tostevin said: “We are delighted with the turn out. A great evening was had by all.”

A theme of the evening was progress made towards embracing diversity and equality.

Hastings LGBT representative Police CSO Jade Kennedy-Munden and Rebecca Pearce also attended and were available to answer questions.

Claire Debenham, equality manager for East Sussex adult social care, thanked HRRA members for their support on forums and training courses.

A new committee was elected and trustees gave an update on projects, including the History Project and Trans Group.

The meeting congratulated HRRA trustee Natasha Scott on her recent Miss Transgender Brighton Award.

Attendees also enjoyed the chance to see the exhibition of the late Nigel Cornford’s work which was kindly provided by his brother Mick Cornford.

Nigel, a HRRA member, was an award winning animator and theatrical designer for film, television and theatre.

HRRA works to support the local Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Trans communities.
