Hastings and District Anglo-French Club

AT our last meeting on April 1 we had a presentation from Paul Robertson, who is a regular visitor from London.

He gave a very interesting talk in French, illustrated by slides, about Jacques Tati. Few of us had realised quite what a remarkable man Tati was. Tall and athletic and with an amazing sense of humour, he loved making people laugh with his brilliant, agile mimes.

Eventually he turned his skills to film-making where he would be both actor and director. His first film was in 1947 and he died in 1982 but his films remain highly entertaining. We enjoyed watching clips from some of them afterwards and were able to borrow the DVDs also.

Our next meeting, on April 15, will be our annual quiz, which has been written by Michel Guille. As usual, our venue will be the church hall of Holy Redeemer Church, Upper Church Road, St Leonards at 2.30pm.
