AN ENVIRONMENTALLY-friendly Llama Park is the pride of the South East!

Ashdown Forest Llama Park in Forest Row has just been named as joint winner of the first-ever Green Tourism Award.

On October 5, more than 200 representatives from the regions tourism industry attended the Toursim ExSEllence awards, presented by television personality Angela Rippon.

Organised by Tourism South East (TSE), the new award rewards good environmental practice in tourism.

A spokesman from TSE said: 'Ashdown Forest Llama Park was named as joint winner having introduced a wide range of new sustainable and environmental strategies and initiatives in recent years.'

Staff from Ashdown Forest Llama Park received the accolade at a glittering awards ceremony two weeks ago.

Tourism South East Managing Director Bob Collier said: 'As an established visitor attraction, Ashdown Forest has demonstrated a real commitment to sustainability, which runs throughout the business.

'It has been at the forefront of introducing environmental initiatives and has demonstrated how these can also lead to bottom line business benefits. Its involvement with the local community and progressive, proactive activity across so many areas of its operation has been rewarded through being named as a deserved winner in the category.'
