Green-fingered gang help a Bognor Regis park bloom

A dozen Cubs from the 2nd Bognor Scout group planted some 36 flowers in Hotham Park.

They eight to ten-year-olds put in varieties such as petunias, begonias, hollyhock and foxglove.

The result of their efforts will be to create even more colourful surroundings for visitors to the popular open space to enjoy.

Elizabeth Bilman, the 2nd Bognor akela, said: “Although it was a really windy day, we stuck to our guns and carried on with the project.

“The Cubs absolutely loved it. Getting dirty in the mud and grossing us girl leaders out with the worm they had found made their day.”

The plants were donated by B&Q’s Bognor store.

One of the retailer’s staff members helped with the planting.

The park’s manager, Michael Rowland of Arun District Council, also assisted the project.
