Grant for Bognor film group

A Bognor Regis group, which made a film about the dangers of alcohol abuse, has received further funding.

The Bognor Community Action Network was supported by the BBC among others to create the film for distribution to other groups.

To help fund future work, Bognor CAN was given 500 in the latest round of grants from the clean and safe fund.

This is run by Arun's crime and disorder reduction partnership to help make communities safer places.

Other grants included 125 to Yapton Parish Council for CCTV at the children's play area and 1,000 to Bognor Town Hall-based Peaceworks Peer Mediation.

This was twice the usual maximum of 500 because of the scope of the project in eight different schools across the district. It teaches students how to act as mentors and tackle problems such as bullying.

Cllr Roger Elkins, in charge of Arun District Council's community safety work, said: "These grants can help support the vital work that many groups already do to help the community.
