Getting set for Bexhill music festival 2011

THERE has been a massive response for groups and organisations to take part in the Bexhill Festival of Music 2011, running throughout June.

So far around 30 events are being planned across the town, and organiser Tony Mansi is compiling a draft schedule at present.

Those who have pledged to host activities include:

• De La Warr Pavilion

• Cooden Beach Hotel

Bexhill High School

• The New Inn

• Christchurch Methodist Church

• Bexhill Senior Citizens Club

• Hartfield House

• St Barnabas Church

Shows will include Godspell at Bexhill High; Copacabana from BLODS; Dinner at the Opera; the Syd Lawrence Band; and various events at the DLWP.

Tony said: “We are still finalising the details but the response from the Bexhill community has been fantastic, and we are delighted.

“The vision was to host between 20-30 events in the month and it looks like we will achieve that. There is, however, still a great deal of organising to be done.”

The cut-off date to be included in the official festival brochure is Friday, March 11 - so if you still want to be involved you need to contact Tony in the next week or so.

Tony is also hoping the festival website will be up and running by the start of April - more details will follow on this shortly.

He added: “If any business, individual or organisation wishes to sponsor the brochure, please contact me as soon as possible.

“It looks like we are going to have a bumper programme of events for June, and fingers crossed for a successful Bexhill Festival of Music 2011.”
