MORE than 100 youngsters went to an open day at Passies Pond, Coombes, last Wednesday to discover the joys of fishing.

MORE than 100 youngsters went to an open day at Passies Pond, Coombes, last Wednesday to discover the joys of fishing.

Trevor Passmore, the owner of the fishing lake north of Lancing, said that 110 young people came along with more experienced family members and helpers.

Mr Passmore told the Herald: About 80 per cent of them have never been fishing or only been once before.

Fishing equipment was supplied free of charge by Mr Passmore and 10 gallons of bait were donated by Findon fishing firm, the National Bait Company.
