Get set for fun in the sun at annual carnival

Hastings Old Town Carnival Queen, Miss Hastings Leylah Dobinson and her two Princesses, Chloe Stretton (pictured left) and Hannah Burgess (right) enjoyed a brilliant and sunny Carnival Day at Dover last Sunday, 6th July, with Leylah winning the valued ‘Queen of Queens’ award.

Princesses Chloe and Hannah made 2nd place for best visiting Court.

The complete court aboard their new float won the accolade of the day, Best visiting court and float tableau. The court’s new green dresses enhanced the new float decor which now portrays a ‘dolphin and seahorse’.

The float was designed and built by Carnival Chairman Robert Morgan.

Carnival Spokesman Ion Castro said “The Carnival Court is already carrying out its ‘ambassadorial’ duties representing the best of Hastings’ young people and we are very proud of what they are doing”.

Hastings Old Town Carnival Week starts on Saturday 26th July with major events including the Tug-o-War and first day of the two-day Beach Concert in aid of the RNLI.
