Get back to the White Rock Theatre for BD16

Hundreds of fans of the Fab Four are expected to get back to the White Rock Theatre next Sunday (April 12) to enjoy the 16th annual Beatles Day event.

A record 95 acts will take to three stages during the celebration of the music of four boys from Liverpool who shook the world more than 50 years ago.

This year will be bigger than ever with many new and young performers alongside returning favourites

And despite being almost 300 miles from the Mersey the sound of those iconic days will sound just as authentic on the shore of the south coast.

Bands and performers from across Hastings and further afield will perform from midday to around 11pm.

There will be around 500 performers including local favourites the 1066 Rockit Men, Hornet, Kid Kapichi, Agenda and international jazz star Liane Carroll.

Those taking part will choose their own songs to play which can be music penned by any of the Beatles during their careers.

Previous years have seen folk, punk, country and western, blues, heavy rock, indie bands, school choirs and song and dance acts performing alongside bands.

Pete Prescott started Beatles Day in 2000 and the event has raised more than £150,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Pete said: “This year will be bigger than ever with many new and young performers alongside returning favourites.

“We have a record number of acts taking part and this year we have an extra stage which is acoustic up in the piano bar area.

“It is great to see so many local musicians taking part and it is such a great community event.

I like to encourage the young musicians to come along and it’s great to see them getting bigger and more confident each year. It’s staggering good they are.

“We’ve raised more than £150,000 and it’s all a very good cause. We expect another large crowd for a truly unique and enjoyable day.”

Tickets are priced £10. For more information visit:
