Gallery marks first birthday

THIS weekend (March 16 and 17) marks one year since the Jerwood Gallery first opened its doors.

To celebrate, the gallery is holding a number of events.

The Baron’s Art School, an all-ages performance workshop using puppetry, live painting, UV, animation and audience participation, will take place at 2.45pm and 4.15pm on Saturday, March 16.

Set in ‘The Baron’s Art School,’ where a drawing class is just beginning, the audience is taken on a journey through realities heightened by art, imagination and madness.

Hastings Piano week presents Orchestra of Ringtones from 10am to 2.45pm on Saturday, March 16, a musical workshop with sound artist Joseph Young.

Using selected paintings from the Jerwood Collection as a visual score, young people are invited to explore and interpret dynamics, tonal colour, rhythm and pace.

Throughout the weekend there will be a variety of free collection talks and tours and Webbe’s at Jerwood will be serving birthday specials and cake in the café.

All events are free on admission but booking is required for The Baron’s Art School and Orchestra of Ringtones. To book call 01424 728377.
