Local attractions will be hosting fun family events over the Easter weekend.
Hastings Castle is going to be choc-ful of eggs as part of a fun Easter hunt on Saturday March 26 and Sunday 27 from 10am – 11am in the castle grounds.
Hundreds of chocolate eggs are set to be hidden around the grounds and castle and children will have the tasty task of tracking them all down.
Entry is £3 for children under 12 and £1 per adult which includes taking part in the hunt for up to an hour but does not include watching the 1066 Story show or staying in the castle beyond that time.
There is no need to book in advance as you can just turn up on the day. Organisers are advising people to wear sensible footwear as the ground is uneven and could be wet.
The castle opens daily on Friday March 25 until November 1.
Walk around the ruins of Hastings Castle and explore the cloistered chapel, the East Gate and the Chapter House.
Enjoy the stunning views across the town and out to sea, discover the dungeons carved out of the rock beneath the North Gate and immerse yourself in the fascinating history of Britain’s first Norman castle.
Visitors to the Smugglers Adventure in St Clement’s Caves will be able to enjoy a fun-packed programme of activities over the bank holiday weekend.
A special Tubman’s Trail is being set out throughout the caves where younger visitors will have to solve a series of written clues to try and track down the hidden Easter eggs.
In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries ‘tubmen’ was the nickname given to locals employed by smugglers to carry barrels - or tubs - of spirits from the beaches to their hiding places.
In addition to the Tubman’s Trail the caves are also asking visitors to take part in their Spot the Golden Egg prize draw.
Anyone who can find the Golden Egg, which will be hidden somewhere in the caves, will be in with the chance of winning a free family annual membership.
The Blue Reef Aquarium, at Rock-a-Nore has an Easter Egg Trail from Friday - Monday.
Follow a trail of hidden eggs around the aquarium and unscramble the mystery phrase to win a chocolate treat, plus every entrant will have the chance to win a child’s annual pass to Blue Reef.
There will be a series of fun activities taking place throughout the weekend including Easter-themed worksheets and quizzes.
A giant undersea mural has also been created in the aquarium’s café and younger visitors will have the chance to fill it with their own coloured Easter eggs and dive bunnies. Visitors can also try spotting shark and ray egg-cases around the displays.
The traditional Good Friday marbles match will be played on Winkle Island on the morning of March 25, with members of local Morris dance sides and the Bonfire Society battling it out.
