Fun and frolics as Come Dine With Me comes to town

POPULAR TV show Come Dine With Me will see some familiar faces compete for the £1,000 prize next week.

Andrew Batsford, councillor and Xtrax project manager, and Stelios Michael, owner of Red Hair in Castle Street, will be on TV screens all week (October 1 to 5) in a Hastings and Eastbourne edition of the Channel 4 programme.

Over five evenings viewers will be able to watch them and their fellow diners serve up a range of culinary delights as they host themed dinner parties, and invite their guests to partake in fun, food, and fancy dress.

Cllr Batsford said: “It has been a really positive experience.

“We all got on really well, and me and Stelios have become good mates.

The St Helens ward councillor said that his Wham themed evening, which kicked off the week was a colourful affair, but did not want to spoil the surprise by revealing too much.

He did say that his menu focused on food from free and natural sources, including sea brocolli and stinging nettles.

Stelios said: “I have always wanted to go on the programme. I really enjoyed it.”

His was a Greek-themed affair complete with meze, a dancer, and smashed plates.

“Everyone seemed to just get on,” he said. “But there was a lot of rivalry too.”

Both men were keeping tight-lipped as to the winner, who will be revealed on-screen next Friday (October 5), after the final episode of the week.

The other participants in the “Around the World” edition of Come Dine With Me were Sally Anne Keller from Battle with a German experience for her guests, and from Eastbourne Adrian with a Morrocan themed evening and Kate, with an English menu.

The programme is to air on Channel 4 at 5.30pm from Monday to Friday.
