The West Hill attraction hosted a terrifying ‘Zombie Apocalypse Halloween Fright Night’ event last weekend.

Staff and volunteers took on the role of a marauding horde of the undead which had been let loose in the cave system.

Plucky guests were then led into the centre of the caves and challenged to navigate their way through the near-dark passages and tunnels to get back to the entrance and avoid joining the zombie ranks.

Smugglers Adventure’s Leanna Lawson says they had been looking at hosting this type of event for some time and were confident it would prove popular but had not expected the overwhelming response. “We were a little taken aback by how realistic and frightening it really was,” she said.

“The feedback we got from visitors was incredible and we are now looking at expanding this event significantly for next year. The staff and volunteers who took on the roles of zombies were absolutely amazing and I would like to thank them all for their enthusiasm and hard work – they also looked terrifying!”

One visitor said: “It was a great idea to hold the event in the caves as it creates a tense atmosphere not to mention having plenty of pitch black areas and hidden corridors. The whole production team were very good and did a great job of creating panic whilst encouraging us to run past the zombies!”

Smugglers Adventure is now closed for the season and re-opens in 2017. Visit: www.smugglersadventure.co.uk
