Friends of Bexhill Library

THE FRIENDS of Bexhill Library held their annual fundraiser on Saturday at St Andrew's Church Hall.

The Autumn fair featured second hand book stalls, raffles, home made jams and refreshments.

The event was opened by MP Gregory Barker.

He said: "Bexhill Library has never needed its Friends more than it does today. Our library is the second busiest in East Sussex and has a large base of regular users and supporters but, despite welcome recent improvements, the town still doesn't have the library it deserves or needs.

"The move towards getting that library we all want is proving very slow due to the lack of funding from government, but it is important we keep this campaign alive and the friends of Bexhill library are the guardians of that campaign."

Town Mayor Cllr Paul Lendon added: "It is great to support the library. As the third largest town in East Sussex it is about time we had a new library."

Friends of Bexhill Library chairman Tony Dunn said: "We try to raise money where we can to use within the library.

"We do this once a year and it is quite successful. It is good to do something for people who aren't members. The nice weather of course makes a difference."
