Firefighters tackle two tonnes of burning waste

Firefighters put out a blazing waste carrier in St Leonards in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, August 11).

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were called to reports of a car fire on Battle Road at 2.40am.

Two fire engines from Bohemia Road and The Ridge were mobilised to the incident and on arrival the crews found a light vehicle used as a waste carrier on fire.

The vehicle contained approximately two tonnes of household waste.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.
