Firefighters called to chimney fire

BATTLE firefighters were called out to tackle a chimney fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A crew arrived at Darvel Down in Netherfield at 3.10am.

The occupants had attempted to dampen down the blaze.

Firefighters rodded the chimney before climbing on to the roof of the property with a hose reel.

The crew were stood down at 5am. Firefighters are reminding people to get their chimney’s swept at least once a year.
