Firefighters were called to tackle a blaze in a derelict outbuilding in St Leonards this afternoon (Wednesday, February 17).

Two crews were called out to an address in West Hill Road just after 2.50pm.

When they arrived, firefighters discovered a fire had started inside a one storey building.

Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to put out the fire.

They then checked there were no further seats of fire or hot spots by using a thermal imaging camera and ventilated the building to clear smoke.

Police were also called to the scene.

It is not yet known how the blaze started and an investigation is underway.
