FIRE FIGHTERS WALK-OUT AGAIN

FIREFIGHTERS walked out at 9am on Tuesday morning (January 28) in the latest round of strikes.

Crews at Bexhill fire station have stopped work for 48 hours as Royal Navy personnel stand-by in Green Goddesses in case of an emergency.

Firefighters are looking for a wage rise from around 21,500 to 30,000 a year - but they reject the Bain Report proposals which they say amount to cuts.

They are threatening a further 48-hour picket on February 1.

The latest round of strikes comes after a series of walk-outs at the end of last year and a 24-hour down-tools last Tuesday (January 21).
