Fire in derelict building in St Leonards

Firefighters tackled a blaze in a derelict building in St Leonards yesterday afternoon (Sunday, May 1).

The fire was discovered on the first and second floor of the building in Chapel Park Road at 5.20pm.

Firefighters from Hastings, Bexhill and Battle raced to the scene, amid reports that someone may have been trapped inside the burning building.

Fortunately the building was found to be empty.

Firefighters left the scene at around 10.45pm.

An investigation has been launched as to what caused the blaze.
