A power company was fined for failing to tidy up one of its electricity substations in Hastings.

South Eastern Power Networks was ordered to pay £1,312 for not repairing wood work, painting nor removing rubbish at the Mount Pleasant Road substation at Eastbourne Magistrates Court on Friday, March 18.

Hastings Borough Council served a section 215 notice under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 in July to improve the substation within three months of September 14.

A representative of the firm attended court and pleaded guilty.

They were fined £800 with costs of £432 and a victim surcharge of £80.

The works have now been completed.
