Festival kicksoff tomorrow

The Bexhill Festival of Music has been extended to include some top-notch events at the De La Warr Pavilion (DLWP) over the coming week.

Tomorrow (Saturday May 24) 8pm, classical pianist Imogen Cooper performs a setlist to include music by Brahms, Beethoven, Robert Schumann & Clara Schumann. Recognized worldwide as a pianist of virtuosity and poetic poise, Imogen Cooper has established a reputation as one of the finest interpreters of the classical repertoire. Tickets from £14.

On Monday May 26, 7.30pm, The BBC Big Band & Claire Martin present ‘The Big Band Divas’.

Multi award-winning jazz vocalist, Claire Martin OBE, joins the internationally acclaimed BBC Big Band for a celebration of legendary leading ladies of Big Band, including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Peggy Lee. An event for all ages rolls into town on Friday May 30, 7pm, with Alex Horne & The Horne Section.

The first band to ever host Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC Two) perform a barnstorming show, providing family friendly musical mayhem. Gathering together the UK’s finest musicians and throwing them on stage with the world’s most exciting comics, Alex Horne created something unique with The Horne Section. Tickets from £10.50.
