Family fightto improvemeningitisawareness

A Hastings family are holding fund-raising events in memory of a dad and grandad who died of undiagnosed meningitis in May.

Megan Kennard, aged 24, said: “When my dad Gaylord Howlett first fell ill we contacted the doctors and told them all symptoms, they were not concerned and told us they would call us back later. Three hours later he was on a life support machine because his organs were shutting down. There is not enough information provided on what symptoms to look out for. Gaylord had none of the text book symptoms until it was too late. We are raising money for Meningitis Research Foundation to help prevent other families going through.

There is a fund raising fete at Battle and Langton School on July 2 from 11.30am -2pm.
