Community Speedwatch is now operating weekly sessions in the village, the sessions in January recorded 51 vehicles exceeding the speed limit at speeds ranging from 36mph to 48mph. More volunteers are needed to run the scheme efficiently, without the current volunteers doing too many sessions. Training takes about two hours, once trained it is up to you how often you take part in sessions. If you want to find out more about how Speed Watch works go to the village website www.etchinghamvillage.co.uk, follow the Speed Watch link on the left, or send an email to [email protected] .

Village Spring Clean. At the last meeting of the Parish Council it was decided to revive the annual Village Spring Clean. The Spring Clean involves volunteer work parties covering as much of the village as possible to undertake litter picking and any other rubbish clearance, cutting back overhanging vegetation from footways and if possible re-instating the width of footpaths, or any other environmental

issue that can suitably be undertaken.

The Parish Council will supply hi-viz waistcoats and rubbish bags. Please bring your own gloves and suitable footwear and clothing. The Council will supply litter pickers but it would be helpful if you can bring loppers, secateurs, spade or an edging tool.

The Etchingham Improvements have four events planned for the year. The Village Fete will be held in Queen’s Garden on Saturday July 12, the Flower & Dog Show this year will be on Saturday September 13. A Halloween Party is planned for Saturday October 25, this will depend on a suitable venue being available. This year the Fireworks will be on Saturday November 8, venue still to be decided. Put the dates in your diary and watch this space for details nearer the date of each event.

If your organisation has events planned for the coming months, let me know the dates as soon as possible, even if you only have the date without full details, I can then put the date in the column so that people can put the date in their diary, you can then send me full details nearer the date.

Get information for this column to me as soon as possible, if you have a diary of events planned for the year let me have the dates and I will put in a list of village events for the year so that people can put the dates in their diaries. There are several ways to get your info to me, but email is preferred because there is less chance of errors during copying. I need information by 10pm on Monday to be sure it will be in time for inclusion, I can sometimes add extra items on Tuesday morning, but this cannot be guaranteed. Just a little reminder, I get plenty of information about events that are taking place, but I get very little follow up information, after your event try and remember to send me brief account of how successful your event was, it can be as simple as a thank you to those that attended and how much money was raised etc. You can deliver to 2 Park Farm Close, telephone 01580 819532 or 07879 818076 or email [email protected] .
