Williamson's Weekly Nature Notes with Richard Williamson

If you know your butterflies, you should be laughing at this photograph of my foot. It was staken this July and shows a purple emperor feeding. Now I wash my feet every day, but in the tropical weather we had this year, they must have been humming.

I walk miles in the cause of seluthing stories for you, so that's my excuse. I was outside my back door when 'His Majesty' dropped by for a snack. Having no camera to hand, I kept dead still and called my wife out of the kitchen to bring the Pentax.

He stayed there for about ten minutes. I was even able to pick and choose my shots so as to gvet the famous royal purple flush the male of the species uses to attract his more dowdy mate.
