Some of the biggest bands of the 1990s will be performing at a three-day music event on Hastings Pier this autumn.
Beano On The Sea is the first large-scale music event of 2017 to be announced by the pier.
Beano On The Sea, presented by Baggymod, will take you back to the 1990s for three days of good vibrations out in the fresh air of the English Channel, featuring some of the biggest names from an era of positivity and ‘Cool Britannia’ all on one stage.
The Bluetones, Reef, Cast, Dodgy, Space and The Supernaturals are the first bands confirmed for the three day extravaganza, which will be held on September 8, 9 and 10.
And a spokesperson for Hastings Pier says more big names and attractions are to be announced shortly.
The bands in question are no strangers to Hastings, with Dodgy headlining this year’s Fat Tuesday event, and Cast performing a triumphant set at St Mary-in-the-Castle 18 months ago.
General release tickets for Beano By The Sea go on sale at 9am on Wednesday (March 8) via the Hastings Pier website - www.hastingspier.org.uk.
Weekend tickets are priced at £99, plus booking fee.
But if the indie sounds of the 1990s are not your cup of tea, then don’t worry as there are plenty more concerts being planned for Hastings Pier for the summer months.
A concert aimed at young people is expected to take place in July, while another gig is in the pipeline for Hastings Pride.
The CEO of Hastings Pier, Jo Stewart, told the Observer: “I’m really excited because we have got some very exciting things going on.
“In the next couple of months we will be releasing information as we get it, but there’s some really nice stuff going on.”
In 2016 Hastings Pier sought to reclaim its crown as one of the leading music venues in the south east.
Audiences enjoyed barnstorming performances from nutty boys Madness, hip hop recording star Dizzee Rascal, the Levellers and the mighty Happy Mondays.
In days gone by, Hastings Pier hosted some of the biggest names in music.
The Rolling Stones, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Genesis and Tom Jones are among the stars who rocked audiences during their heyday.
