Young talent Emily Carey will appear alongside acclaimed stars Ruthie Henshall and Keith Jack in Adam Hepkin’s The Magic Of The Musicals at the De La Warr Pavilion on Sunday, June 14.

No stranger to the stage herself, Emily, 12, from St Leonards, made her West End début at the tender age of nine in Shrek The Musical at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

She went on to take the role of Marta Von Trapp in The Sound of Music at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre directed by Rachel Kavanaugh. The production was nominated for ‘Best Musical Revival’ at the 2014 Olivier Awards, and subsequently Emily reprised her role with a live performance in the awards ceremony at the Royal Opera House.

Emily was featured as Mini Idina in the music video for Idina Menzel and Michael Buble’s hit song Baby It’s Cold Outside. Most recently Emily made the move into TV acting and is now known for the semi-regular role of Grace Beauchamp in the BBC’s flagship drama Casualty. She began performing locally at the age of five in productions with The Hastleons and at the Hastings Musical Festival and she is delighted to have been invited to perform in The Magic Of The Musicals. The DLWP had already run out of tickets for this production so an additional 200 tickets have been released.

Director Adam Hepkin said: “I am both delighted and astounded by the response of the community. It is so exciting for the cast and myself to be in a position where we are releasing additional tickets due to demand.

“The show has attracted audience members from all over the country and I have been informed that people are flying over from Thailand to see Ruthie Henshall!

“Those that have booked tickets are in for a real treat; the choir are sounding absolutely incredible and wholly professional and we have some of the best professional musical theatre talent in the industry alongside them.”
