THE branch has had a very busy couple of months with members working on individual pieces of embroidery for inclusion into Our Branch Book which was displayed at the Regional Day held in Ardingly on Saturday, June 29.
Looking back over the past couple of months our May 18 meeting was spent gaining inspiration while viewing a selection of the Guild’s folios which cover various hand stitching techniques.
Many of the pieces in the folios were very old traditionally worked embroideries while others were more recent and contemporary.
Louis Atkinson was our guest speaker on June 15 and he kept us amused and intrigued for an hour talking of his recollections as a director with the House of Dior and fashion.
Barbara Walters will be our guest speaker for the July 20 meeting and her illustrated talk is entitled Inspired by Nature.
During August we are holding our members’ Tea Party and then we are back to business on September 21 for a stitch and chat session in the morning followed by a guest speaker, Caroline Washington whose talk is entitled The Origins and Development of the Paisley Shawl.
If you would like further information on becoming a member of the East Sussex Branch, who meet on the third Saturday in the month at St Peter’s Community Centre, Old Town, Bexhill please contact the chairman Beverley Blanch on 01825 765267.
