Elena has so far raised £3,400 for the charity and has set a target of £5,000.

In May 2012 Elena trekked along the Inca Trail in Peru for St Barnabas House, which inspired her to take on this next challenge.

She said: “It was amazing. We raised £120,000 all together. I have got the bug now, I have always dreamed of travelling the world.”

“Training is going well so far. I will be cycling around 30 to 40 miles a day on the challenge.

People keep saying ‘I hope you’ve got padded shorts’ but that is the least of my worries, I am just hoping my knees will hold out.”
