Elderly woman bruised in St Leonards assault

A 79-year-old woman was assaulted by a man as she walked in St Leonards.

Police have only just released information about the attack, which happened in Sedlescombe Road South on Thursday September 24.

The victim was walking along the road at around midday when she was pushed from behind into a stationary vehicle.

She suffered bruising and part of her heart monitor was damaged.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his 20s, around 6’ tall, of slim build with short black hair.

At the time of the attack he was wearing dark clothing and was with a young woman.

Sergeant Aidan Cornwall, of Sussex Police, said: “We believe there may have been a number of potential witnesses and we would particularly like to hear from the young woman seen with the suspect.
