Police investigating a burglary at an elderly man’s home have released an efit of a man they want to speak to.

At around 8.55pm on Monday, November 26, police responded to a report of a distraction burglary in Battle Road, St Leonards.

The victim, a man in his 70s, was at home when a man knocked on his window and asked for a light. He allowed the stranger inside his property and after he had left discovered that a laptop had been stolen.

Police would like to trace the man in the efit.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Always use a chain on your door if you are answering to someone you don’t know and don’t be afraid to ask to see some ID which you can look at properly. If you are in doubt, don’t let them in and phone the company they claim to be from using a phone number from a telephone directory. If you are suspicious then call police on 101.”
