Eastenders writeris set to give a talkat Hastings campus

James Payne, writer of the EastEnders 30th anniversary week live episode, will be speaking to students and the public at the Hastings campus this month.

The EMMY award winning University of Brighton graduate has written and created some of the best known and well-loved television shows of the past decade.

His script writing credits include Mr Selfridge, The Musketeers, By Any Means, EastEnders, Ashes To Ashes, Hustle and Death In Paradise.

In 2010, at the invitation of the BBC World Service Trust, he travelled to Beirut, Lebanon to develop the world’s first Arabic webdrama, Shankaboot. In 2010 it won the International Digital EMMY for fiction.

The EastEnders 30th Anniversary episode, written by James and performed live on TV, attracted audiences in excess of 20 million viewers.

James will be discussing his path to success, and how to break into and stay in industry as part of a series of free public talks held at the university’s Havelock Road Lecture Theatre, in Hastings, at 6pm on Thursday, November 12.
