A ‘large’ garden fire in Hastings is believed to have been started deliberately in the early hours of this morning (Monday, May 9).

Three East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service appliances from Hastings and Bexhill were sent to Edmund Road at around 3.25am.

One hose reel jet and 1-in-7 foam was used to put out the fire.

Firefighters were kept busy yesterday (Sunday, May 8) with fires in bins and fences to deal with.

Hastings crews were called to a bin fire outside a charity shop in Queens Road at about 1.10pm, but the fire was out on arrival.

Then Bexhill firefighters were sent to a fence on fire in Tudor Avenue, St Leonards, at around 4.10pm.

Crews used one hose reel to put out the accidental fire.
