‘Drunk’ boy with hammer arrested in Hastings

A ‘drunk’ 17-year-old boy was arrested after being seen with a hammer in Hastings on Monday afternoon (May 2).

The boy from St Leonards was nicked by police in High Street at 4.35pm on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

He was pointed out to police by witnesses after being seen in an intoxicated state with a hammer in the street, a police spokesman said.

The boy was taken into custody, but released without charge later that evening.
