Driver pursued by police flees scene after car hits home in East Sussex

A driver who was being pursued by police made off from the scene after their vehicle went into an East Sussex home.

Officers were called after a car hit the wall of a house in Brendon Close, Eastbourne, at 8.30pm, Sussex Police confirmed.

Shortly before the collision, the car had made off at speed after seeing a police car on patrol in Seaside Road.

A short pursuit followed, until officers lost sight of the vehicle.

As they approached Priory Road, they saw the car had hit the wall of a house in Brendon Close, causing damage, police said.

No one in the house was hurt.

The driver had run off and despite an extensive search, was not found.

The passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was detained and taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver.
