Domesticviolencerises overholidays

THERE was a sharp rise in reports of domestic violence over the Christmas and New Year period say police.

Police tackled the issue using dedicated patrols equipped with body cameras used to record evidence.

A total of 979 incident calls were responded to across Sussex resulting in 257 specific crime reports ranging from assault to harassment. The incident numbers ranged from 61 on December 21 to 127 on New Years Day. The Sunday before Christmas and Christmas Day were the next highest with 75 and 85 respectively.
