Heads Up is the new site replacing the Black Museum page. It will focus on real fires and how they’ve started to share important safety messages with the public, according to East Sussex Fire & Rescue.

The site will be a catalogue of case studies ranging from chip pan fires through to fires caused by wheat bags, the fire service says.

It will cover how the fire started and the effect it had. Heads Up will also contain information, advice and guidance for the public in order to avoid future fires.

The fire service hopes the website will prompt businesses to upgrade fire precautions as they see some of the example cases the benefits of good fire precautions.

Duncan Holloway, fire investigation manager, said, “I believe it is essential for a person to have an understanding of the conditions in which a fire can take hold to protect themselves and their families.

“The new Heads Up website brilliantly highlights these safety messages and I would, in particular, recommend members of the public to browse the case study section to get an understanding of the often unusual and surprising circumstances in which a fire can take hold.”
