Death of former Lancing newsagent

FORMER Lancing newsagent Mrs Doris Forshaw has died '“ just two months short of her 100th birthday.

FORMER Lancing newsagent Mrs Doris Forshaw has died '“ just two months short of her 100th birthday.

Mrs Forshaw and her husband opened their first shop at 7 North Road, Lancing in 1951 in what had been the main post office for Lancing.

In the 1960's two more news agency shops were opened at Queens Parade, Lancing and Seadown Parade at Bowness Avenue.

The shops were sold in 1968 and the couple lived for many years on the corner of Crabtree Lane and Grinstead Lane. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1982.

Following her husband's death in 1984 Mrs Forshaw lived at Shoreham Beach before moving to a flat in Worthing. Although almost 100 she continued to live alone in her flat until a broken hip resulted in an operation at Worthing Hospital.

She is survived by her sons Graham and Keith, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A service was held last week at St James The Less North Lancing, followed by cremation at Worthing.
