Dancing the night away

Dressed up to go out dancing - that's the members of the Royal Air Force Association Albatross club.

They had a glamorous night out on Saturday at the Manor Barn and enjoyed a buffet supper followed by some serious dancing.

The evening was organised by Albatross club committee members Len and Evelyn Oliver, Peter Bryant and David Starkey.

Evelyn said: "This is a bit of a thank-you to everyone for supporting us throughout the year. It is an event not necessarily about raising money but we do a raffle which goes to the club to keep the place going. We have a swing and jazz band there every month and they are playing tonight.

"The first dance we had last year was such a success we thought we would do it again. I was quite amazed - the dance floor was virtually packed all evening.

"That is why it has been so popular again this year - our members like to dress up, they like the music because we have it every month and know what the music is going to be, it is lovely to go into the ambiance of the Manor Barn also, and most of the ladies love dressing up.

She added: "We had a fantastic evening - everyone said it was wonderful, and even better than the first."
