Cyclist seriously injured in accident

A cyclist was seriously injured in an accident in the town centre on Friday (November 15).

He was riding north in Queens Road just before 3.45pm when the incident happened.

The 79-year-old man was passing a blue Skoda Octavia taxi on the rank outside Priory Meadow shopping centre, near the junction with South Terrace, when he came off his cycle, fell to the ground and fractured his skull.

His injuries were considered to be life-threatening and he was was taken to the Conquest, where he remains in a critical condition.
