Crowds flock to the fete

HUNDREDS of people flocked to the Friends of the Conquest’s annual summer fete on Saturday (June 7) which helped raise more than £5,000.

The event was held within the hospital’s grounds on The Ridge and saw an variety of entertainment to keep visitors of all ages amused.

Highlights included performances by In The Wings drama group from Bexhill, the Conquest choir, the Iceni belly dancers and Tornado Twirl Stars.

Jayne White, manageress of the Friends’ flower shop, who organised Saturday’s event, said: “We have not got an exact figure as yet on how much we have raised but we are looking at more than £5,000. We had a lot of business on Saturday with hundreds of visitors and lots of lovely entertainment.”

The Friends’ flower shop is desperately looking for volunteers. Those interested do not have to know about flower arranging. Anyone interested should ring Jayne on 01424 756486.
