Crowborough man involved in collision which killed 66-year-old woman

A woman pedestrian who died after being in collision with an Audi car, driven by a man from Crowborough, on the A27 on Friday evening (March 11) has been named.

She was Anna Iles, 66, of Ashurst Way, East Preston.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the Woodman Arms at 7.12pm. Sadly Mrs Iles was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Audi, a 42-year-old man from Crowborough, was uninjured.

The road was closed in both directions, but the eastbound section was re-opened shortly after midnight. The westbound carriageway remain closed for several more hours while the collision was investigated.
