Worthing town centre police presence explained as officers respond to mass gathering outside pubs

There was a large police presence in Worthing’s town centre last night (Thursday, September 1) following reports of anti-social behaviour.

A number of police vehicles were seen in Warwick Street and Chapel Road.

Officers were responding to ‘reports of anti-social behaviour’, involving a ‘large group of people’ gathered at pubs shortly before 8pm.A Sussex Police spokesperson added: “Officers attended both scenes to engage with business owners and with the group in order to ensure the safety of the public and to minimise disruption to the wider community.”
